Within the limits of the limited testing, Hi-Bond UNIVERSAL has average initial dentin bond strength with no significant difference with phosphoric etching. The self-etch enamel bond strength is slightly below average, which improves after phosphoric etching. Etching enamel with phosphoric acid is recommended for maximum bond strength and marginal integrity. SEM imaging of restorations placed in teeth showed sufficient dentin tubule penetration with formation of a hybrid zone and consistent film thickness.
